MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

AVS mechanical engineers draw from over 50 years of innovative furnace technologies assuring each furnace meets your requirements. AVS utilizes SolidWorks for complete 3-D modelling, FEA validation of structural and thermal engineering calculations, and COMPRESS for critical ASME pressure vessel design calculations. All AVS furnaces are designed, engineered and built for long-lasting, industrial service. The results of these efforts ensure:

Reliable ASME rated HIP performance
sturdy and repeatable load support
thermal heating/cooling
predictable hydraulic pressure/force performance.

As testiment to the rugged design approach of AVS, many of the furnaces built 30 years ago or more are still operating today.

ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING

State-of-the-art controls engineering and programming are key elements that enable AVS furnaces to conform to the most demanding processes for temperature, pressure, vacuum, flow and force control. AVS electrical engineers specify the highest quality instruments, and modern automation components for precise, worry-free operation. AVS carefully designs its control systems with an abundance of standard safety interlocks comprising its backbone. Where other OEM’s are unwilling to support and upgrade vintage equipment, AVS offers services of its electrical engineering group to trouble-shoot problems, replace critical instrument, and even perform total system controls upgrades.

Our furnaces are built for complete safety during operation to meet OSHA, UL, CSA or European CE standards. Every furnace is fully tested and customer-approved at AVS prior to shipment. After installation at the customer site, each furnace is fully tested a second time on-site for final customer approval and commissioning.

SOFTWARE ENGINEERING

AVE software engineers come from a wide background of furnace systems. This ensures our control systems will meet your specific specifications. AVS provides modernized control systems that meet the demands and reliability automation networks and computing, while providing security of data and system access. The AVS ACE™ Graphic Interface and Data Acquisition Control System provide easy, understandable recipe creation and management. Each ACE™ Control System has a custom-configured set of graphic display screens, unique to each furnace.

AVS maintains code certifications to manufacture and repair pressure vessels to:

ASME Section VIII Division I
PED (European Pressure Equipment Directive)
Japanese code
Chinese code
Russian code
and will qualify for others if necessary.

Manufacture of all AVS vessels adheres to ASME code practices which allow AVS the confidence to offer the only standard 5 year chamber warranty in the industry.

HIGH TEMPERATURE FURNACE PARAMETERS

AVS recognizes the importance of all of our customer’s furnace parameters, providing high temperature furnace equipment capable of meeting the most demanding requirements. This includes:
Temperatures to 3000°C
Vacuum levels to 10-6 torr
Gas pressures to 3000 psig (200 bar)
Hydraulic hot pressing forces greater than 1200 tons
Critical gas atmospheric control, including differential pressure control, partial pressure sweep gas, CVD, hydrogen burn-off and many other gas atmosphere control technologies.

AVS has capabilities to build hot zones for any high temperature furnace application. AVS manufactures graphite furnace, using graphite heater elements and felt / rigid graphite board insulation materials. When a graphite furnace presents a risk of carbon reaction or particulate contamination with the customer’s product, AVS can provide refractory metal hot zones. All-metal high temperature furnace may use molybdenum or tungsten as elements and heat shields, enabling clean high vacuum environments and temperatures up to 2100°C.

AVS readily leverages over 50 years of furnace technology to engineer custom furnace equipment that may require combinations of many of the above parameters. AVS furnaces have employed parameter combinations for either metal or graphite furnace, such as:
High temperature with HIP pressure
High vacuum with hot pressing
High temperature with flowing gas
High pressure and high temperature with hydrogen burn-off
High vacuum with HIP pressure
